The eBay Seller Update Autumn 2021 was officially announced yesterday but what do these updates mean for sellers?

There is a lot to cover in these updates, and we will be with you every step of the way. While we have time to digest and analyse the update, we thought we would give you a quick run-through.

Item Specifics

eBay announced that they are adding new Item Specifics in the below categories:

The new Item Specifics won’t be required until early 2022 but sellers will be able to add these new item specifics to their listings from the 12th of October. From this date sellers will see these new item specifics tagged as ‘Required Soon’, highlighting which ones need to be updated.

Along with the new Item Specifics for some categories, eBay also announced that they are updating the structures and specifics names in the categories above. Keep an eye out for these changes in the week following the 12th of October release.

And finally, eBay is announcing a number of tools and features to sellers update missing item specifics, including:

  • Task reminders in the Seller Hub
  • Quick filters
  • Edit item specifics in bulk
  • Required soon feature
  • Download/ upload files

Although the exact changes will not be announced until October, you can make use of our Aspect Finder+ tool to see what changes are currently recommended, as there is a high chance that they will become required in the October announcement. You can use this tool free of charge, courtesy of eBay, until 30 September 2021. Make use of this tool now and get prepped for the next round of required item specifics.

Coupons

Launching in October 2021, sellers will be able to send specific groups of buyers customised coupon codes via the Seller Hub. Sellers will also be able to track the impact the coupons had on engagement.

Promoted Listings

As part of eBay’s expansion of their Promoted Listings portfolio, Promoted Listings will be renamed to Promoted Listings Standard. Nothing else will change as the cost-per-sale model will still remain.

eBay also announced that in late September they will launch their beta version of a new post-per-click (PPC) campaign model, Promoted Listings Advanced. This new feature will offer sellers preferred access to the top spot on eBay, including mobile, desktop and the eBay app.

Performance Tab

To help sellers build and track their businesses on eBay new updates have been announced that will go live in October 2021.

The reports in the Performance Tab within the Seller Hub will be updated, including the listings quality and sales reports. And there will also be a number of enhancements coming to Terapeak Sourcing Insights. The updates are designed to simplify the sellers' experience and give a wider data range.

These updates are not only for UK sellers, the changes have also been announced around the world on eBay International sites.
