The July 2022 eBay mandate is right around the corner and the deadline to have your listings updated is the 20th July. With that said, this week we’ll take a closer look at what will be changing in the category of Parts & Accessories.

Why it’s wheely important to comply with eBay mandates

eBay mandates are essential to the evolving nature of buyer search habits. These mandates focus on categories and their item specifics – which are filters used by the buyer to find precisely what it is they are looking for. When eBay release a new mandate, it means they’ve discovered new item specifics that will benefit your listings and in doing so, can boost your visibility and traffic to your store. What eBay seller wouldn’t want that?

Types of Item Specifics

There are four different types of item specifics:

  1. Required: Required item specifics are mandatory for eBay sellers.
  2. Required Soon: Required soon item specifics aren't mandatory yet, but will become will be in the near future.
  3. Recommended: Recommended item specifics are optional but provide more information to your buyers
  4. Additional: Additional item specifics are optional and provide extra information about your listings to potential buyers. These values are not as highly searched as the recommended item specifics, but should be populated where possible to ensure your listing is optimised to its fullest.

Here are a few examples of affected categories in the Parts & Accessories vertical for the UK:
