We know how much effort our Optiseller users put in to having high performance listings, it takes time, and money to create them, so it was essential that we designed a way to backup these listings and protect sellers with the ability to restore. Essentially, we want to save you time and money if things go wrong!

In this blog, we will take a look at how the functionality works, why it is important and how you can access and use the Optiseller vault!

What Optiseller's Backup & Recover and why is it important?

One of the major challenges confronting sellers is the loss or corruption of listing data, and at present, if a seller loses their eBay listings, there is no way to guarantee listing recovery via eBay Seller Hub. This has been highlighted in eBay community forums by sellers, so we took the decision to design something to aid this!

Introducing to the stage… Optiseller Backup & Recover! Now included in all Optiseller Plans!

The new functionality will help put your mind at ease by taking weekly backups of your eBay listings, as long as you have an active plan with Optiseller. These backups will be safely stored in the Optiseller vault for when you (hopefully don’t) need it, if the worst happens and you lose your listing data.

Think of it like car or mobile phone insurance, you wouldn’t leave it up to chance and not protect your high value items. eBay listings are no different! Don’t waste time and effort manually redoing listings, when having an insurance policy like Backup & Recover will do it for you.

How does the Backup function work?

Our Backup & Recover function is built into all Optiseller plans, and the functionality is available directly in your personal application homepage. As long as you have an active plan, we will action the backup in the background for FREE to save you needing to manually remember to do it every week.

Your listing data is safely stored within our vault using a symmetric encryption key as it is written to our Cloud storage. So you have peace of mind that all data is safely secured, think of it like an insurance policy!

And what about if the worst happens and you lose your eBay listing data?

So picture this, the day every eBay seller dreads has just happened, your listings have suffered data loss or dropped off the marketplace after spending a lot of time optimising them. Maybe if you are a smaller seller then it would not be a huge impact, but if you have 100 - 1000 or more listings, then this can have a major impact on your immediate selling forecasts. That is before you even take into account how much time and money it would take to manually create every listing again! Not a good situation!

That is where Backup & Recover steps in, and provides you the solution to recover your eBay listing data to re-upload to eBay. Phew!

Simply login to your Optiseller account, scroll down to the above tile in your homepage, and select ‘Request Data’.

You will then be presented with a list of data files with time stamps to choose from. Pick your time stamp and hit ‘Recover Data’.

Easy as that! Our team of data experts will then receive your request, and get to work straight away to pull your listing data into a standard SHR csv file that can be uploaded to eBay and get you back on track!

Like all kinds of insurance, we would charge a small recovery excess fee for the listings to be recovered. This is dependent on the number of SKUs to be recovered, and you can get more information on this here. This just helps us cover the manual process of compiling your listing backups into a ready to upload format for eBay in the most efficient and simple way as possible!
